Your Questions

Frequently Asked
Questions.

Everything customers ask before buying. Answered honestly, by Sonya herself.

Can I color or bleach my S. Riviere hair?

Yes. Because S. Riviere hair is raw and chemically unprocessed, it responds to color the same way your own natural hair would. It can be lifted to blonde and accepts permanent color evenly.

A few things to keep in mind: always do a strand test first, use a professional or work with a stylist experienced in coloring extensions, and follow up with a deep conditioning treatment after any color service. Raw hair holds color beautifully — just treat it with the same care you'd give your own hair.

How long will the hair last?

With proper care, S. Riviere raw Indian hair lasts for years — not months. Many customers wear the same bundles for two to four years. The cuticle is intact and the hair is chemically untouched, which means it maintains its integrity long-term.

The most common reason extensions stop looking good is poor maintenance, not quality. Follow the care guide and your investment will last significantly longer than processed alternatives.

What is the difference between Remy and raw hair?

"Remy" means the cuticles are aligned in the same direction — but it does not mean the hair is unprocessed. Most Remy hair on the market has been through an acid bath to strip the cuticle, then coated in silicone to give the appearance of smoothness. That coating washes off over time, revealing dry, tangled hair underneath.

Raw hair is a step above Remy. It is truly unprocessed — no acid bath, no silicone, no chemical treatment of any kind. The cuticle is intact, the natural texture is preserved, and the hair behaves exactly like hair that grew out of a single person's head. That is what S. Riviere sells.

Will the curl pattern loosen over time?

Some loosening is natural, especially in the first few washes. Raw hair behaves like natural hair — and just like your own hair, the curl pattern can relax slightly with washing and heat exposure over time.

To maintain curl definition, wash with a sulfate-free shampoo, apply a leave-in conditioner while the hair is wet, and let it air dry. Avoid heat when you want to preserve the natural texture. The curl will remain consistent with proper care.

How long does shipping take?

Standard delivery is 10 to 14 business days. All orders ship from Atlanta, Georgia. You will receive a tracking number via email once your order has been dispatched.

If you have any questions about your order status, reach out through the Contact page and Sonya will respond promptly.

Can I return or exchange my order?

All sales are final. Please be certain before purchasing — we do not offer refunds.

Exchanges are at the discretion of S. Riviere if there was a discrepancy on our part. If you believe there was an error with your order, please contact us at info@srivierehair.com with your order number and photos and we will review it.

How much hair do I need?

It depends on your desired style, install method, and hair density. As a general guide:

  • Sew-in or weave: 3 to 4 bundles for a full install, depending on length
  • Closure install: 2 to 3 bundles plus a closure
  • Frontal install: 2 to 3 bundles plus a frontal
  • Longer lengths (20 inches and above): may need an additional bundle for fullness

When in doubt, it is better to order slightly more than you think you need. Bundle lengths can vary, and having extra ensures your stylist can create the look you want without running short.

Is the hair ethically sourced?

Yes. S. Riviere hair is sourced from South Indian temples, where donating hair is a voluntary, centuries-old act of devotion in the Hindu tradition. Devotees offer their hair as a form of humility and gratitude — the tradition is deeply embedded in the culture and is undertaken by choice.

The temples collect the donated hair, sort it by quality and length, and sell it through established channels. This is a well-regulated, long-standing practice — not a supply chain built for the hair industry, but one the hair industry has responsibly tapped into. Sonya sources from trusted suppliers with direct temple relationships.
